Hello lovelies, today I have 2 delicious smoothie recipes for you that are not only very healthy but also delicious. I'm also introducing you to my new favorite in the kitchen. A device that manages to combine 2 appliances we use almost daily here: a juicer and a blender. The whole thing is called Sage Bluicer Pro* and I have to tell you, I'm totally thrilled.

These days there is another green favourite on the blog: my new immune-boosting smoothie with spinach, avocado and ginger – extra creamy and ready in 10 minutes.

If you love smoothies, you'll also want to try my new mango pineapple protein smoothie – creamy, vegan and packed with around 25 g of protein.

And for a vibrant café-style drink, blend my iced fruit matcha latte with strawberry and mango – creamy, fruity and ready in minutes.

SAGE Bluicer Pro

In my opinion the Sage Bluicer isn't just a totally brilliant invention – it also helps me with an everyday dilemma! I love fresh juices; they give me quick energy and extra vitamins. But it has to be said that they aren't as filling, and a smoothie with its fiber keeps you full longer. Certain fruits, and especially vegetables, I definitely prefer juiced, though. A lot of things can't be juiced at all, and it makes much more sense to put them in a smoothie.

I'll be honest: since I've owned both appliances in the past, I did sometimes go to the trouble of juicing first and then blending. But honestly that was rather rare, because the effort – and especially cleaning 2 appliances – is quite a lot. The Sage Bluicer Pro is the solution! One attachment for juicing, the fresh juice runs straight into the blender jug, then you swap it out, set the blender onto the base, add the remaining ingredients and blend a delicious smoothie.

  • Green vegetable soup with croutons and borage flowers in a bowl, served
  • Stainless steel blender with fruit on the counter, preparation

And I also understand that many people don't want to buy an additional appliance, especially since a juicer often takes up a lot of space. For everyone with limited space who still wants both, this device is really ideal – and in genuinely great quality.

And of course I now want to share my favorite recipes with the Sage Bluicer Pro. 2 juice/smoothie recipes we make very often here and that my family and I really love. Especially now, with autumn/winter ahead and when we need extra vitamins. These two recipes will definitely supply you with them.

  • Green smoothie in a glass jar with wooden straw and lime, served
  • Two red beet smoothies in jars with metal straws and pomegranate

First there's a green smoothie, with fennel, celery and apple that I've juiced, and then into the blender go spinach, avocado, hemp seeds, lime, a little mint and dates. Super creamy, full of healthy ingredients and really delicious on top of that. The other smoothie is made with beets, carrots, pomegranate and turmeric from the juicer, plus orange, mango, banana, chia and a little basil in the blender – a power smoothie with an extra kick.

Green Smoothie

A healthy power smoothie

  • 1 fennel bulb
  • 1 bunch celery
  • 2 apples
  • 1 tsp hemp seeds
  • 1 handful leaf spinach
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 2-3 dates
  • 1 lime
  • 3-4 leaves fresh mint

Juice the celery, fennel and apple with the Sage Bluicer Pro

Add the other ingredients to the blender jug and blend into a fine smoothie

Add ice cubes and, if needed, water or coconut water to taste and to reach the desired consistency

The Sage Bluicer even has a dedicated green-smoothie button, and the smoothie turns out really creamy with definitely no more chunks – I always find that really important.

  • Hand pressing the green-smoothie button on the blender by citrus fruit
  • Blender jug filled with green smoothie, citrus fruit alongside

When juicing it's really great that you don't have to chop or peel the vegetables and fruit. The peel of many fruits holds especially many vitamins and nutrients, which – thanks to the separation of peel and fruit in the Bluicer during juicing – are preserved as well as possible and thus retained. The whole bunch of celery, a whole apple or even a fennel bulb – the Bluicer handles it without any problems. That saves time and there really are no more excuses – a smoothie or juice is made so quickly.

  • Hand feeding celery into the juicer chute, step
  • Hand dropping an apple into the juicer chute, step
  • Juicer on the counter surrounded by fresh produce, preparation

By the way, this is also my favorite juice combination: celery/fennel/apple – this combo tastes so good, you absolutely have to try it once.

Red Smoothie

The second of the pair is my red immune-booster: beets, carrots, pomegranate, ginger and turmeric go through the juicer, then orange, mango, banana and a spoonful of chia join them in the blender. Beets are one of my favorite smoothie ingredients – the ginger adds a pleasant heat and the fruit balances it out with their sweetness. A real power pack of antioxidants and vitamins.

Red or Green?

Which would you choose first? Red or green?

  • Hand holding a jar of red beet smoothie, second jar behind
  • Green smoothie being poured from the blender into a jar, step

I love both incredibly much, and the kids also enjoy a smoothie now and then depending on their mood – they always taste-test for sure and have already discovered their own favorite combinations.

  • Blender jug from above with lime, spinach and dates, ingredients
  • Blender jug from above with carrot, blackberries and orange, preparation

I can definitely highly recommend the Sage Bluicer Pro. Not only is the combination of juicer and blender simply brilliant, but as a pure blender it also has several advantages, like the pre-programmed one-touch programs for optimal results.

I find the cleaning quite okay; sure, when juicing there are a few parts to clean, but you can also put everything in the dishwasher.

Sage Bluicer Pro

I hope you'll definitely try the 2 delicious smoothie recipes – I'm curious which one will be your favorite. You'll of course find more healthy recipes to get you through the winter on the blog.

If you're in the mood for more liquid vitamins, be sure to try my green immune-booster smoothie, the refreshing beetroot-berry smoothie with coconut water or my summery mango pineapple protein smoothie.

TIPS

Verena's notes

The smoothies taste best fresh and nicely chilled. When I juice the vegetables I don't toss the pulp – I turn it into vegetable stock or crackers. For extra creaminess I freeze the banana for the red smoothie in portions, so I barely need any ice cubes later. If the green smoothie is too sharp for you, an extra date or a piece of apple helps.

GOOD TO KNOW

Frequently asked questions

  • You get two recipes at once: a creamy green smoothie with fennel, celery, apple, spinach, avocado and dates, and a red immune-booster with beets, carrots, pomegranate, ginger, turmeric and fruit. Both are vegan.

  • A juicer makes the smoothies especially smooth, but it isn't a must. You can simply blend the vegetables and fruit in a high-speed blender with a little water or coconut water, then strain the smoothie through a fine sieve.

  • Yes, both smoothies are completely vegan and contain no animal products at all. They're made only from vegetables, fruit, seeds and a little mint or basil.

  • The smoothies taste best freshly blended. Sealed in the fridge they keep for about a day – just give them a quick shake before drinking, as the ingredients can settle.

  • Yes, the recipes are very flexible. Cucumber works instead of fennel, you can replace the dates with a ripe banana, and in the red smoothie the mango swaps nicely for berries.
