Hello lovelies, finally summer! We are very happy, because there is nothing better than spending lots of time outside with the family. And today I have the perfect meal idea for you: sweet and savory snack platters. Because what a perfect summer day is not for me: spending hours in the kitchen. When it is warm, we like it easy – and these snack platters are just perfect, whether for a snack, an apéro, a dessert or a picnic by the lake. Everyone can dig in and find something delicious to their taste.
But one thing is important to me: high-quality organic ingredients. That is why I'm happy to share these tips for sweet and savory snack platters in cooperation with Migros Bio/Alnatura Switzerland. And of course there are 2 simple dip recipes – one sweet and one savory – both super fine!
Organic ingredients
Why organic ingredients are important to me? Organic food comes from organic farming, genetic modification is not allowed, and above all it is grown without chemical-synthetic pesticides, artificial fertilizers or sewage sludge. Organic agriculture also places great emphasis on natural nutrient cycles and on biodiversity.
I therefore serve our snack platters with organic fruit and vegetables – we find that it not only tastes better, but that we also take care of our health and nature.

Tips for your snack platters
We all know food is a treat for the eye, and we love it when the platters are colorful and appealing – that way we enjoy them even more. So you definitely need lots of fresh, seasonal fruit and vegetables. In summer, all the delicious berries and stone fruit such as apricots, peaches and nectarines are perfect for the sweet platter, plus every kind of melon. The savory platters are mostly built from vegetables that dip well – cut straight into bite-size pieces.
Sweet snack platter

In addition to the fresh fruit, I served the sweet platter with various snacks, bars and a suitable dip. Dried fruit and nut mixes are a great addition. I cut the bars into small pieces so everyone can try a bit of everything without eating a whole bar straight away. To go with it, there is a quick but delicious sweet coconut dip for the fruit.

Watermelon is a must for us in summer, and rice waffles are always popular too. Cut the fruit so it is ready to eat, and arrange different pieces and shapes on the platter. Serve nuts and dip in small bowls. That way you quickly have a light summer dessert that is easy to prepare ahead and take along to a picnic by the lake.
Savory snack platter

For the savory snack platter, crackers, corn waffles and tortilla chips are lovely alongside the vegetables for dipping. There are no limits to your imagination – we especially like beetroot crackers and tortillas. Nuts shouldn't be missing here either, preferably a lightly salted version, and olives are always popular. For all these delicious snacks you definitely need a dip: I decided to go for my mediterranean avocado dip with olives and basil.

I really hope my tips for perfect summer food: sweet and savory snack platters were helpful for you, and I'll soon see many colorful, delicious platters on your tables! You can be sure they will go down well with family and friends. Everyone here is always enthusiastic: it looks great, it's done quickly, and you can vary it so well that it never gets boring.
Now I have only one question: what would you try first – sweet or savory?

If you are after more summery apéro ideas, take a look at my summer rolls with peanut dip and the fresh cucumber tahini dip too – both are a lovely fit for any snack platter.
Love, Verena
