Hello Lovelies, I am very happy to share some new recipes with you this year for the Christmas season. There won't be a full Christmas menu this time, but today I have an inspiration for 3 quick and delicious Christmas starters. These are not only super tasty, they are also real eye-catchers and you only need a few ingredients. To be precise, they all have the same main ingredient: the delicious curry mango tofu from Taifun Tofu! *. The recipes were created once again in collaboration with my favorite tofu producer.
Since the curry mango tofu is so versatile, I have come up with 3 very different recipes that you can serve wonderfully as festive starters during the Christmas season and that are guaranteed to go down well with everyone.
The recipes are:
- Mango-Curry Tartare
- Puff pastry "candies" with dates
- Beetroot Carpaccio
It all sounds super delicious, doesn't it? And it looks really great too:
The star of all three dishes is the curry mango tofu from Taifun Tofu with its mango pieces and a note of ginger and chilli. And what is great about the curry mango tofu: it tastes cold - like in tartare, as well as baked or seared, which is why it can be used in so many ways.
Now I don't want to tease you for much longer, but of course I want to share the delicious recipes with you!
Recipes
Mango-Curry Tartare
In addition to the tofu, this starter also contains fresh mango, red peppers, of course spices such as chilli and lime and a colorful topping made from radicchio and pomegranate seeds. Easy to prepare and still a little explosion of taste.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 1 mango
- 200 g Taifun Curry-Mango Tofu
- 1 red pepper
- 1 spring onion
- Juice of 1 lime
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- chili flakes (if you like)
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- salt & pepper
- radicchio, pomegrante seeds
Instructions
- Peel and dice the mango, cut the curry mango tofu into approx. 1 cm cubes
- Dice the bell pepper, cut the spring onion into fine rings and place in a bowl with the mango and tofu
- Add the lime juice, soy sauce, chilli, maple syrup, salt & pepper and mix everything together and season to taste
- Let it steep for a moment and place in a ring, put some sliced radicchio (or rocket salad) and fresh pomegranate seeds on the tartare and serve
- Fresh baguette goes very well with it
The mango curry tartare is an ideal starter for the Christmas menu, because it is not too heavy and therefore leaves room for further courses. Nevertheless, it arouses the taste buds with its exotic touch and makes you want more. You can vary the chili so that the tartare is delicious for young and old.
Puff pastry "candies" with dates
The 2nd recipe is these delicious puff pastry "candies" with dates. A little surprise in the form of tofu and dates awaits in the hearty puff pastry candies. What sounds like an unusual combination at first is so delicious and I can tell you that you really have to hold back from eating just one of these delicious "candies". The sweet and salty combination is ideal as a starter or as a small greeting from the kitchen.
Here is the recipe:
Puff pastry "candies" with dates
Equipment
- Backofen
Ingredients
- 200 g Taifun Curry-Mango Tofu
- 1 Tbsp coconut oil
- 1 vegan puff pastry (rolled-out)
- 4 Medjool-dates
- 8 tsp vegan cream cheese
- garlic powder
- salt
- soy cream to brush it
Instructions
- Heat the oven to 180 degrees
- Cut the TaifunCurry-Mango Tofu into pieces (8 pieces), approx. 0.5 cm wide
- Fry them in a little coconut oil until crispy
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut into about 8 small rectangles
- Season the cream cheese with garlic powder and salt and place 1 teaspoon each on a puff pastry rectangle
- Halve and stone the dates, place a piece of tofu and half a date on top of the cream cheese
- Roll up the puff pastry and fold the ends to create a candy shape
- Place on baking paper and brush with soy cream
- Bake until golden for about 20-25 minutes
- "Knot" the ends with chives and serve the parcels warm or cold
The preparation of the "candies" is really easy and the result is not less impressive. The sweet shape is of course ideally suited to put a small package on the plate of each guest - cute reactions are guaranteed.
Beetroot Carpaccio
Last but not least, this beetroot carpaccio with thinly sliced beetroot, fresh orange and a topping of caramelized walnuts and curry mango tofu. With fresh rocket and a light dressing with a fine note of citrus and mustard. Is your mouth watering yet? I hope so, because the carpaccio is a wonderful starter that surprises with many nuances of taste.
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 1-2 Beetroot (pre-cooked)
- 1 Tbsp olive or coconut oil
- 2-3 Tbsp walnuts
- 100 g Taifun Curry-Mango Tofu
- 1 Tbsp raw cane sugar
- 1 orange
- 1 handfull arugula/rocket
- 1 spring onion
- pomegranate seeds
Dressing
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 2 Tbsp lemon or orange juice
- 2 tsp mustard
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- salt & pepper
Instructions
- Cut the beetroot very finely or, better, slice it
- Roughly chop the walnuts, crumble the tofu with your hands, fry both in the olive oil
- Sprinkle the sugar on top and let everything caramelize - set aside
- Fillet the orange (collect the juice for the dressing), wash the arugula/rocket and cut the spring onion into fine rings
- Mix all ingredients well for the dressing
- Spread the beetroot on a plate, sprinkle the tofu / walnut mixture over it, also the orange fillets, some rocket, spring onions and pomegranate seeds
- Drizzle with the dressing and serve
The beetroot carpaccio is not only very easy to prepare, it is also great to prepare. All the individual components can be prepared in the morning, kept tightly closed and refrigerated and then just put together for the menu.
The Taifun Curry-Mango Tofu is prepared completely differently and tastes so good in combination with the walnuts and lightly caramelized. Such a perfect topping for the earthy and fruity carpaccio.
