Family Days at Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld, Tyrol

Hello lovelies, here comes the second travel report of our summer holidays: family days at Hotel Klosterbräu in Seefeld, Tyrol*. After the wonderful days in South Tyrol (you can find that report here) we drove on to Austria. In barely 2 hours we'd arrived in beautiful Seefeld — our next destination.

Hotel Klosterbräu

The Hotel Klosterbräu sits, quite surprisingly, right in the middle of the pedestrian zone — somehow you don't expect that at all. Of course you can drive up to the hotel with your luggage to check in, and then the car is parked for you and brought round whenever you need it. The Klosterbräu is, as you might guess from the name, a former monastery, which has now been in the possession of the Seyrling family for several generations, who run the hotel with great care.

The monastery charm, the historic walls, and many elements like old doors have been preserved for the hotel and, I think, very successfully combined with modern elements. So on the one hand you can sense the charm of the monastery era, while of course enjoying the comfort and service of the present day. The various areas of the hotel are designed with great attention to detail and cared for accordingly — every evening, for example, candles are lit in the hallway, creating a very special atmosphere. As a former monastery, the hotel of course has its own brewery and even suites with their own tap — beer lovers should be in seventh heaven there. Especially cool is the new gym; I'm sure you've never seen a fitness room like it!

Room

We had a super lovely, modern room on the 4th floor with a big wellness bathroom, 2 beds for the girls, and a big cozy bed for us parents. Plus a large balcony with a great view of the mountains and the pool, on which I rolled out my yoga mat every morning and got to greet the day in the most beautiful sunshine, accompanied by the crowing of the in-house roosters — simply wonderful. Speaking of yoga, the hotel of course also offers sports classes, like yoga, Pilates, and guided hikes; we just didn't have the chance to take part this time.

I'd barely arrived when I got to head into the spacious wellness area, because an individual treatment was already waiting for me there. I decided on a sports/Thai massage and wow! — it was absolutely outstanding. I can only recommend Anja to you, so much so that I sent my husband straight to her the next day too, and he was just as thrilled.

The Klosterbräu has not only an indoor pool with lots of cozy loungers and an indoor whirlpool, but also an outdoor pool (which is heated in winter too) and, brand new, an outdoor panorama whirlpool. The spa's sauna area is unique too, offering not only a hand-carved wooden sauna but also an outdoor sauna and further themed saunas, all in the monastery ambiance.

Cuisine & vegan options

You're definitely pampered culinarily; on the first evening we ate in the Bräukeller, the in-house steakhouse. Not so fitting as a vegan, you might think now: BUT, I was very surprised, because under the motto GRILL & VEGGIE you'll find lots of vegan and vegetarian dishes on the menu. Vegan burgers, a superbowl with rice and vegetables, miso vegetables, sweet potato fries, etc., and even a vegan dessert — very pleasing, and it was really delicious on top of that!

Breakfast in the vaulted cellar is a mix of buffet and à la carte, and there too I was already quite thrilled by the vegan options — fresh avocados with pea sprouts, hummus, a nut-butter machine (my highlight :-)), fresh juices from the vitamin bar, fresh fruit, muesli, and seeds — a big selection at the TCM-inspired breakfast that leaves little to be desired.

Hotel Klosterbräu - BreakfastAt lunchtime and in the afternoon you can help yourself at the Vitalbistro to a midday snack, and in the afternoon to the cake buffet.

For dinner you can choose from a daily changing menu; there were few vegan options there — there is an extra vegan/vegetarian menu, but I didn't try those dishes, since both were Indian-inspired and I just wasn't in the mood for that those days. Instead, though, there's a huge salad buffet with leafy salads, sprouts, seeds, antipasti, vegetables, etc., from which you can help yourself — you can eat your fill wonderfully on that alone (provided you like salad :-)!). But pasta lovers also get their money's worth at the pasta station. Every evening you can choose at live cooking from a variety of pasta types and sauces. Even whole-grain pasta and 3 vegan sauces are available (tomato, red and green pesto). With that we were absolutely happy on 2 evenings!

Seefeld and surroundings

We of course explored the lovely area around the hotel, because the Seefeld Olympic region is really great and has plenty to offer families in summer (and in winter too, of course). One of our excursions took us by funicular up to the Rosshütte. You can also hike up from Seefeld, but that was a bit much for us with the kids. Up top you'll find not only a gorgeous panoramic view of the Alps, but also a really great playground with trampolines, a tube slide, and much more for the children, and with the Rosshütte a lovely restaurant. Definitely a must-do in Seefeld that you shouldn't miss.

The next day we were a bit more sporty and set off on the e-bikes you can rent at the Klosterbräu. It was our first time on e-bikes and it was really fun, and the kids finally pedaled up the mountain without any grumbling too — what more could you want. We then got to do a really wonderful several-hour round trip, which first led us to Lake Möserer, a lovely forest lake with a restaurant and a place to swim. For the way back to Seefeld we then took the path through the forest over the Möserer Höhe with plenty of great viewpoints — it was really very worthwhile and highly recommended.

Seefeld Tyrol

Sadly the days at the Klosterbräu went by far too quickly; we thoroughly enjoyed them and simply felt completely at home and welcome. With its YOUNIQE approach, the Klosterbräu pursues a holistic concept for body, mind, and soul. No matter which area, you feel the first-class service, and the staff are always keen to read every wish from your lips.

So we had really wonderful family days and can highly recommend the Hotel Klosterbräu — we'll surely be back!
