I’m running a bit late with our post about the Fijis, I guess we are still on Islandtime ;-), but finally here it comes. After a short night in the hotel in Cairns we had to get up early in the morning to catch our flight to Brisbane, from where we flew to Nadi with Fiji Air. The flight went smoothly, even though the girls were complaining at first about the missing TV in the plane, it’s a bit different then Swiss or Singapore Airlines, but it was totally fine and we had a beautiful arrival in Nadi.
We had arranged a privat transfer to pick us up at the airport to take us to the small island we where staying for the week. They took us to the Harbour and it was a 20 minutes boat ride to Bounty Island. One of the main reasons we decided to stay on this island was that it wasn’t too far from the main island and we didn’t loose to much time on transfers and it is affordable. You could also take smaller planes to other islands, but then you are limited on luggage and that would have been a problem for us.
Bounty Island and its crew welcomed us warmly with a song and BULA (be prepared to hear this a lot on the Fijis 
and we settled in our Deluxe Beachfront Bure – which was really nice. It’s big, clean, they had a bunk bed prepared for the girls and a hammock in front of the little deck. And it’s just steps to the ocean – that was amazing.
The island was really small, in half a hour you can walk around, but that was exactly what we were looking for. It’s not luxurious, but the island is beautiful and you can easily relax and just dream the day away. They rent out kayaks, snorkeling gear, stand up paddles and surfboards for free and there are other activities like daily fish feeding, turtle feeding, souvenir making, etc. they also have a little pool, which was nice for the girls. Our biggest issue was the food or I guess MY biggest issue (Daddy Frei and the girls didn’t care that much). I expected a lot of fresh fruits on a tropical island and was really devastated at the first breakfast when there only was some watermelon, next to toast and packed jam, not so yummy looking eggs, beans and sausages. You had to buy a meal plan from the resort because there isn’t any place else to eat on the tiny island. Lunch was a bit better, it was always buffet style and at least they had fresh salad, fish and veggies. Dinner was a 3 course meal most of the time starting with soup, fish or meat and desert. So we had the same ingredients the whole week, with some slight changes. So I guess we have been a bit spoiled in the past by all the nice hotels we stayed at, but after the first day I decided I just have to get over it maybe I also realized what a spoiled b*** I must have act like and enjoy what the island would offer.
Our days where filled with beach time, snorkeling, kayaking, pool time, shell collecting and discovering the island wildlife, like crabs and hermit crabs. The first days we thought we get bored, but we didn’t at all. We took some timeout from being online, from TV and iPad and just enjoyed ourselves and the beautiful nature that surrounded us. We had some massages at the beach and everyone at the resort was so happy to entertain the girls, which was nice for us. No need for a kids club
We had the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets just at our doorstep – what more can you ask for – so the beautiful island made me forget about the food, or at least it was a comfort.
The week flew by really quickly and soon it was time to leave again and fly to another beautiful island: Hawaii 
. We went for the private Transport again since the others didn’t work so well with our flight times.
